We are really proud to present an exhibition of the most legendary 2-Tone art at Freedom Sounds Festival 2018. The 2-Tone style and art was created by Jerry Dammers (aka The General) of The Specials but many people played their part and added to the 2-Tone journey from the beginning to the end of that era… the MUSIC and ART live on.
This exhibition reflects the part John Sims (aka Teflon) played in the further development of the 2-Tone visual identity, as a graphic designer and as art director during his time with Chrysalis Records back in the late 70s/early 80s. This was under the creative influence of Jerry Dammers which led to John’s illustrations, designs and new expressions from Jerry’s original 2 Tone logo of „Walt Jabsco“.
Teflon continues to be a graphic designer as Picture This Design at his studio in Hawkinge, Kent UK with a variety of clients including music projects for record labels, bands and musicians including again The Selecter.
Teflon is also founder of the Folkestone Skabour Festival UK now in its 9th year where many top bands, DJs and legends have played. It is organised by a team of local Ska & Reggae loving volunteers as the Ska Co-op.
